Project Aims
All pupils in the school are involved in this project. We want to integrate our project with as many curricular areas as possible.

English:          
Pupils engage in oral environmental discussion, debate, decision making. Also reading and writing exercises.

Maths:            
Measuring and weighing litter content, graphs of findings, probability, estimating possible results, counting bags and waste findings.

Second to sixth classes are preparing bar graphs and piecharts on surveys sent out to parents.

Art:                 
The environment is an important factor in all areas of art curriculum.  We use our recycled materials for collage, cartons and ars for containers for paint, glue etc.  Leaf and bark rubbings etc.

                       
Music:            
We are doing various raps on saving the environment and water conservation. This will include drama and dance also. 

History:          
Children reflect on events in History which have an environmental impact.

Georgaphy:     
Children become aware of the Ozone layer, Greenhouse Gas and many other effects of pollution on the earth; the different types of energy, wind, water, etc and  ‘good energy versus bad energy’, the importance of water and how to conserve it.

Nature:           
All of the Environmental work in the school compliments the nature study programme.

I.T.                
The pupils make use of the Internet to access information on the environment. Also they use Microsoft Publisher to make posters and flyers to inform the wider community of our activities. We are using Power Point to illustrate ‘our work so far and our dreams’ in the form of presentations.

Religion        
Our Religion programme focuses on “taking care of God’s creation’. Through integrated work pupil’s awareness of the importance of caring for the environment is heightened.

Science:         
Study of fossil and non-fossil and fuels.  Effects of use of fossil fuel on our environment.  Earthquakes, tsunami, volcanoes, Green Energy, wind, solar, water, bio-mass, woodchips, water – its availability, its importance and to conserve it.
