Parents’ Association Committee
The school has a very active Parents' Association Committee. Meetings take place once a term and whenever the need arises, providing a vital link between home and school. Parents work in co-operation with staff and management for the benefit of their children.
The current committee is made up of the following parents:
Chairperson: Lorraine Scanlon
Vice Chairperson: Tony McCormack
Treasurer: Noreen Dunlea
Vice Treasurer: Carmel Hughes
Secretary: Mary O’Donohue
Among other activities, the committee part-take in policy making in the school and various fundraising events. Some of these activities include sponsored-walks, Christmas concerts and carol singing.
The most successful fund raising to date took place last year when over the course of approximately 6 weeks we managed to raise €20,000 through the sale of 2,000 tickets. These tickets ranged in price from €0.01 to €20.
This phenomenal amount of money could not have been raised without the help and generosity of the parents of Ardnagrath and indeed the wider community. The money raised was used to buy much needed supplies for our P.E. room and the purchase and installation of computers for our new I.T. room.
Thanks to all those involved in this mammoth effort and once again it shows the great support and unity here at Ardnagrath.
** Please Note: You can keep up with all the news of our fundraising efforts in our LATEST NEWS page of this section.
The school also part-takes in fundraising for those less fortunate than ourselves on a regular basis. To date, children have been involved in raising money to send goats to Africa (through Bothar) and providing generous gifts for the Samaritans Purse shoebox appeal which takes place every Christmas. Recently we have installed a water cooler system for an annual fee of €8 per child.
A percentage of this money goes to helping provide clean water in third world countries. It is nice to know that healthy living this side of the world can help those in need on the other side!
